Welcome to Room 5!

We hope you had a lovely Christmas break and enjoyed the sun!

This year Room 5 students are very lucky!  They will have two teachers!

Miss Deed will be teaching Literacy in the mornings and then she will run the Reading Recovery Programme in the afternoons.

Mrs Munam will be teaching Maths, Topic and The Arts in the afternoon.

Students will have Science with Miss Erakovich every Wednesday and we will also be having Te Reo lessons with Ms Purvis throughout the year.

I saw a Taniwha

We have been focusing a lot on descriptive writing.

This week we looked at different pictures of some Taniwha and wrote about them.

Life Education Caravan - Session 2

This session we revisited what our body needs to be healthy.

We also talked about how to be a good friend.

Raumati and Harold from The Life Education Caravan came to visit us this week.

We learnt what our body needs to stay healthy.

Fireman Matt

Fireman Matt came to talk to us about how to be Firewise!

We do not play with lighters or candles!

We watched a dvd on Fire Safety.

We practiced what to do in a fire.

Sh Sh Sh Sharks!!!!!

We have been learning what sound Sh makes.

We brainstormed all the words we could think of that had that sound either at the beginning, in the middle or at the end.  

Then we made some sharks!

People Who Help us in our Community

This term we have been learning about the different people who help us in our community.

We had a visit from St Johns, our local Policeman and some Firemen.  We learnt about what these people do to help us.
